Abstract
Join me as I take you through how I managed to transform my open-source TV show Android app into a fun interactive app with the use of Google's latest Gemini Generative AI models through Google AI. Through the use of Gemini, I was able to build an interactive TV show trivia quiz with questions and answers generated by the model. I will take you through the steps I took to integrate Gemini and discuss the pitfalls I encountered, highlighting my learnings from building this quiz using Gemini and generative AI. If you want to hear more about this journey, this session is for you. Learning points: - Learn what is Generative AI; - What is Gemini; - What are multimodal prompts, and how to build them in Android; - How to consume a generative AI response in a format that you can use for your Android app; - How integrating generative AI into an app can help enhance the experience for your app users; and, - Potential pitfalls when trying to integrate generative AI into an Android app. Key takeaways: - How to set up Gemini with Google AI - How to build and interaction inside an Android app to communicate with Gemini - Setup multi-modal prompts that return useful results; and - Fine-tuning a generative AI response into a format you can map to a data class. This session is for you if you have or have not considered looking into Generative AI, what it is, and how to incorporate it into your Android app. Or if you have wondered how to improve certain parts of your Android app but are uncertain about how or what tools are available.
